the town
New Harmony
This is not just another quaint small town. It’s a thriving, walkable village, purpose-built in 1814 on strong convictions and wild ideals. An extraordinary National Historic Landmark District on an idyllic bend of the Wabash River. The site of multiple social experiments based on both religion and science. The modern village is a mix of contributions made by 200 years of artists, reformers, scientists, educators, and fans of this early American center for equality.
